FO's-Clapotis & Pinwheel Baby Blanket

I have some FO's that I've been meaning to post for awhile. I finally got new batteries for the digital camera, so I finally have pictures to post.

First is Clapotis. I looooooooooved this pattern. I wasn't sure if I would, so knit this first one using Caron Simply Soft Brites in Watermelon, Blue Mint, Limelight, and Grape. I will definitely knit another Clapotis or two--I'm especially looking forward to doing another one for myself in a better, more luxurious yarn.

Please excuse the way I look in this next one...it was a long day.

The Pinwheel baby blanket was made with Bernat Softee Baby in Soft Lilac. The edging was done in leftover Caron Simply Soft in Grape. It ended up a little smaller than I would've liked (about 2.5 feet across), but I loved the pattern. I'll definitely do this one again.

Thanks for looking! :-)

ETA: Forgot pictures of the blanket the first time.

Your clapotis is Beautiful! I've debating on starting this. And the blanket's also beautiful too, my favorite color.

Love them. Making me want to take a stab at the clapotis. Unfortunately, I'm a BRAND NEW - yah that new - knitter. I find myself having real problems trying to read the patterns.

Hand me a hook and a crochet pattern, or even a hook and measurements and I can make anything. Heh...26 years crocheting...three months knitting. *griamce*

But...I'm loving that clapotis you made. The contrasting stripes - with the colors changing in one direction and the holes in the other direction...it's just utterly striking. I'm so wanting to make that. heh...maybe one of these days :-)

It's a terrific pattern ... not all that difficult, really. The only things other than knit and purl are yarn over, knit two together, and knitting through the back loop instead of the front. It's VERY easy, you should give it a try, it's fun!

Great job. I love the stripey brightness of the clap, and the pinwheel blanket is just so pleasing.

Your clapotis reminds me of a beach towel. It's cute!

My boyfriend says that my WIP clapotis reminds him of tropical skittles that someone faded in the sun.

all these posts are making me want to make one for myself...i just wanted to get more christmas knitting done before i made something else for myself.

I really like that pinwheel blanket. Where's it from?

The pattern is from here: http://www.knitlist.com/00gift/round-baby-blanket.htm

I definitely recommend using stitch markers...it makes it a lot easier to just knit along--especially when your stitch count gets up into the hundreds.

I ditto heart the pinwheel blanket. And have a metric buttload of worsted alpaca in way too pastel for me colors that would be perfect for it.

too bad I don't know any babies...

LOL...I don't know any babies either! I just knitted it because I liked the pattern. Hopefully someone I know will have a baby to give it to eventually. If not, I guess it could go to charity.

Hehe. I love your clapotis. It's sort like mine. But in technocolour. (mine had black and white stripes)
Did weaving in the ends drive you insane at all?

I like the blankie too... It's all spiraly

Oh, I thought the weaving in ends was just going to drive me insane--about halfway through I realized I hadn't thought that part out too well. It was actually okay though--I was on an "FO high," which made the task not so bad.

The first time I saw the pinwheel blanket, I sort of set my sites on it to use if I ever have to knit a baby blanket. How long did it take you to finihs? I hope noone has any babies for a while, I'm still working on the Hombre Alpaca blanket from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts, and once I finish it I will be all blanketed out for a while.

Ahhh, Thank YOU!!! I was looking at some of the blue mint and lime light for a clapotis last night and my husband looked at me like I had my head screwed on backwards! Now I have something for him to look at and realize those "interesting" colors aren't as bad as he thought!

I've been trying to get started on the pinwheel blanket for a few days now, i'm having trouble with so few stitches on the DPNs!!! I plan on trying again later this evening, after the kids are in bed. Especially after seeing yours, it looks awesome!! My baby girl is due in October so I need to get it going ;)

My biggest problem with the blanket was getting started on the dpn's w/so few stitches. I solved that by starting on circs using magic loop and then moved to dpn's when I had 20 stitches. It worked very well.
