pattern:
USED: 2 skeins of bernat alpaca chunky (i would NOT suggest this yarn to anyone, it sheds like a horror) or any chunky yarn about the same gauge:
• 3-1/2 ounces (100 grams) 120 yards
• 4"=15 stitches on size 10 needles

-CO 80 sts on size 4 circs(this was for a friend with thick hair and a big head, so i would suggest starting with any needle/hat band that you know works for your head)
-K10rows in 2x2 ribbing
-Switch to size 8 circs K1 M1 all the way around
Knit 3 rows
*P15 K1 *
Repeat between asteriks for infinity rows. basically you are making a verical rib with the knit stitch
work for about 8-12" depending on how big you want it.
k2tog all around for 2 rows
break yarn leaving a 12" tail. weave tail through live sts and pull tight.

sew on a big fat pom pom (i used patons shetland chunky for it)

go and be contrary and find a garden

Very cute! It's unfortunate that the shedding is such a problem, because I really like the halo the fuzz gives to the overall piece.

Excellent taste in cookies, btw... ;D

I agree, it was just a cheap yarn. If i were to redo it i would use something with mohair or alpaca that wasn't so cheap.

ha, thanks!

totally OT, but the other night i was watching this episode of "king of queens" where carrie is trying to get doug in the mood for lovin'. she says "think of alyssa milano . . . she's hot, and her last name is a cookie!" and then later on doug finds a bag of those cookies and gets all turned on. heh.

I have a quick question: did you really swatch on size 10 needles and then not use that size at all when you knit the hat?

I'm thinking I'll make this for myself to cover my big hair this winter without getting hat-head. Thanks for posting the pattern!
