Hello!!

so I've been working on the 'gator mittens from SNB Nation, and they've been fun and easy so far. At one point in the pattern, you switch from dpn's to using the dpn's as straight needles.

The pattern goes, basically:
with WS facing, p16 onto one needle.
Work even in St. Stitch for 19 rows
next Row (RS) : K1, ssk, k to last three sts, k2tog, k1

Except, here's the problem. Everyway I figure it, After the 19 rows, I'm on the WS, not the RS.
Am I being stupied? Can I not count? Is there something I'm missing? I haven't found anyone with problems with the pattern, so I assume that it's just something I'm missing.

Help! My mother's birthday is less then a week away!
Ha. Thanks!
winston

Hello everyone.I am having a bit of a problem.I am trying to make the Convertible from Knittys spring Issue #6 ( http://www.knitty.com/issuespring06/PATTconvertible.html ) I have tryed the pattern about 5 times now and keep getting messed up.(missing a stitch there and then getting to the end and not having enough there to do what it says!)
Now I need help with the part of the pattern that I havent gotten to and dont 100% understand.

Here is part of the pattern that im having problems with.

".*Buttonhold Row:
k3, yo, k2tog, k1, pm, work row 1 of Lace Pattern 7 times, pm, k2, yo, k2tog, k2.

Work 23 rows in patt as set, working 6 sts at each edge in garter stitch, and working sts between markers in Lace Pattern."

Ok there are 12 rows worth of Lace Pattern given.Once I get to "Work 23 rows in patt as set" does that mean since I used Row 1 of lace pattern in the buttonhole row I start with row 2 now?

Ok now after doing the "work 23 rows in patt" it says

"Repeat from * 16 more times or until wrap is desired length."

Does this mean I do all past 24 rows (24 rows including the buttonhole row) 16 times for a total of 384 rows?!! O.O

Sorry if these sound like simple things to figure out but im used to very simple k1 row p1 row directions.Im wanting to branch out and make better looking stuff!

If any of you have made this and can offer some help/info that would be great!Even if you havent made this you could still go look at the page I listed above and see if you can offer me some help. Ty all for all the help!

Edited to include only the parts of the pattern that iom having problems with!Sorry I thought since it was a free pattern and the whole public can look at it I could post some of the pattern before my problem area. Please forgive me.

Howdy all knitters, I have to confess I am not a knitter myself, but my best friend is a keen knitter and she asked me if there was anyway I could find her a knitting pattern for kermit the frog, has anybody got any good ideas where I could find one? I pretty much have no clue where to look.

Would be lovely if someone could help me :)

Cheers

Pattern: a Frankenstein combination (see discussion below); figure 8 cast on, toe-up, heel flap socks with ribbing up top.

Yarn: Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Bee Stripe

Needles/gauge: Size 0 US, about 10 st/inch.

Picture and notes on pattern constructionCollapse )

Questions: Does anyone know what the base yarn for the Shepherd Sock is? I love the feel of it but the price is a little steep for everyday, and I don't like a lot of the Lorna's Laces colorways; the bits of color are often too short and end up muddy.

Okay, I don't know how many of you watch Knitty Gritty on DIY, but a few of the new episodes back, they had a designer on there discussing swiss darning.

The project was an adorable little felted handbag with a cute design on it. Now, I've decided to make this bag, as I have quite a bit of the yarn they used, and no other earmarked patterns to make with it.

The yarn suggested is Cascade 220. So, I have 5 unused skeins in various shades of green, so I shouldn't have a problem with making this bag....except for one thing. I would like to use a bright and contrasting color for the swiss darning/duplicate stitch design on it....but I don't want to spend 6 bucks for a skein that I might use for one yard of yarn.

So here's what I need.

If anyone has ends of skeins of Cascade 220, and you can't think of what to do with it, or you don't want it anymore, or you just want to make room in your stash storage....comment here or email me and we might be able to work something out. I will take any color (EXCEPT green, cause I already have tons of that) and lengths of at least 1 yard (1 yard = 0.914 4 meter).

I will happily pay for shipping and a little extra if you wish...offer me a price. I also have PayPal, and I would prefer to deal that way, though I don't mind snail-mailing a money order.

Thanks in advanced!

As a result of a very sweet destashing sale (thanks keelyerin), I am now the proud owner of some Kid Silk Haze!! I've got two balls of Nightly (dark navy), and about 1.9 balls of Meadow (green). I would really like to use these to make two shawls but I am concerned about running out of yarn. So I am looking for patterns where you are able to pretty much stop when you run out of yarn (think more Kiri and less Birch). Kiri would be ideal but I am not really a fan of the pattern. I really like the Fibertrends and Fiddlesticks shawls but it's hard to tell which make use of the kind of construction I need and which ones would only require 2 (or slightly less) balls of KSH.

I'm pretty comfortable with lace knitting but I have shied away from KSH due to the high price tag. Now that I've got some (or will soon) I really want to go wild. Any suggestions for favoured shawls you think would suit my purposes would be great!
