Oh my! Whee!

So. My grandparents that live on a farm were down for a few days, and we got to talking about, well, their farm. It turns out that they actually saved the wool that they cut from the sheep, even though they didn't really have a purpose for it.

So they offered some to me of it. At the next family thing, they're more than willing to give me a bag of it. My question to all you spinners:

What do I need to get started? I'm gonna try a drop spindle first, but I also know that I'll need materials to clean the fleece, card it, etc. Not to mention dying it. (Jacquard dyes are the favored stuff among dyers, right?)

Thanks so much for your help!

I'm sure that I'm just overlooking something, but I'm working on the Marigold hat and I'm just starting the chart. Maybe it's just the way it's phrased, but I'm being tripped up by: "Slip 1 knitwise, slip 1 knitwise, knit these two together through back loop". How would you knit through the back loop when you've slipped the stitches to your right needle?

Whenever I pick up stitches, the working yarn is always on the wrong side of the fabric when I try to start knitting the stitches. Is this normal, or am I doing it wrong?

Okay, I LJSeeked this community, and didn't find any answers to my question, so please don't shoot me. :)

I am looking to buy some Lion Brand yarn online for the afghan I am working on. I am using different colors of Wool-Ease Chunky for this project, and want to purchase additional yarn. I'd rather order my yarn online, if possible... But anyhoo.

I want to buy the yarn from Lion Brand's website. I understand that a number of people in this community have had problems with the store on their website, and I just wanted to know if I should even bother buying my yarn through their website.

So... Experiences? Thoughts? Comments?

Thank you, wonderful knitters! :) Now, I will finish working on this blasted afghan, even if it kills me (7 months in the making... sigh). It is going to be warm and comfy, once I finish with it. =)

I know several members of the community have made one or more versions of these bracelets. I'm interested in making them for my sisters for Christmas and I'm putting together a shopping list for supplies.

My question is basically this: Is the perle cotton called for in the pattern basically embroidery floss? I just want to know that I'll be looking for the right thing when I go to find the supplies. In the description she does compare them to the friendship bracelets we used to make in school out of embroidery floss, and I assume that this is using the same material, but I don't want to assume wrongly.

Thanks in advance for any help and for your patience!
