Most recent FO and question

I just received a digital camera for a very early birthday gift (b-day's in August) and I wanted to show off my most recent FO. I made Besotted scarf from with Plymouth Galway yarn in burgundy.

My question is concerning Knitpick's Shine. My friend has a baby due in July, and I'm thinking of making her a blanket with this since she lives in Southern Florida. Before I order it, would this be soft enough and light enough in weight for the baby? I live in Michigan, so I'm not the best judge of lightness of yarn at the moment.

  • I must learn how to do cables without a cable needle. About a quarter of the way through, I was getting annoyed with having to cable every four rows.

  • The yarn is really heavy and I like it. This is the first time I have ever used yarn that wasn't acrylic.

  • I made it for my high school violin teacher. He, "was touched and honored," and also said it was the first time someone had ever made him something like this. That made me happy, and he was also liked that it matched both his symphony dress coat and his casual coat.

  • I started it February 28 and finished it March 10. It mainly got done in a somewhat timely matter because I was on spring break, and as a music major I only have time to knit at night for about an hour before I collaspe in exhaustion.

  • Image hosting by Photobucket this is the closest color match out of all four colors.

My boyfriend's cat, Gwydion. He appears farther down also; he was very curious about the scarf on his floor, and in the sun no less.

"How many roads must a cat walk down...- what my boyfriend started singing when he saw this picture.
