Here's a lowercase alphabet rendered in mosaic knitting. A typographer would be appalled at the letter-spacing and the letter shapes. Considering the restraints I was under, I don't think it's that bad.
This alphabet can be knitted from any direction. Just turn the chart and knit from top, left, bottom, or right. Photocopy away and create your own words and sentences with cut and paste, or do some fancy image-editing with the GIF file to get the letters to line up.
Sorry I don't have a knitted sample to show you, but mosaic knitting is pretty true to the chart. I have shown how the letters look in words with the famous phrase we all know from typing class. Those of us that are old enough, that is.
You'll notice that some of the letters are not that great. For example, the "r" doesn't fit in too well with following letters. Please feel free to improve upon my work.
